Minnesota’s north shore of Lake Superior begins in Duluth and runs 140 miles northeast in a spine of granite to the Canadian border. The North Shore’s outstanding historic and environmental scenes are lodged like randomly spaced jewels on a rocky crown. Waterfalls, stone beaches, sheer cliffs, deep boreal forests, and, of course, the azure blue waters of Lake Superior, provide the palette for ever changing light and moods that could occupy the photographer’s attention for a lifetime.
